Significant challenges prevent one-third of adults from earning a living wage. How can we ensure they are set up for economic self-sufficiency?
On Tuesday, October 24, 2023, from 4-5:30 p.m. EST, policymakers and practitioners will examine our nation’s efforts to support adults in owning a home, providing for their children, and meeting their family’s basic needs.
Attendees will learn about strategies to improve the outlook for adults, including by:
Increasing access to career planning;
Reducing college debt; and
Expanding pathways to social mobility.

While many adults who complete four or more years of postsecondary education are promised a bright economic future, the outlook is less bright for adults from historically underrepresented backgrounds (e.g., Black, Latinx, Indigenous adults) as well as people with disabilities—including those with mental health conditions.
